The Khazar was the language spoken by the early medieval Khazar language.

Previously was a broad consensus that the Khazar was a oghurische Turkic, similar to the Chuvash and Bolgarischen, possibly influenced by the Old Turkic and Uighur. Recently, this hypothesis has however been questioned and advocated that the Khazar was a "normal Turkish " language.
