Khon San District

Amphoe Khon San ( Thai: อำเภอ คอน สาร ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Chaiyaphum. The Chaiyaphum Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, known as Isan.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Phu Pha Man ​​and the Chum Phae in the province of Khon Kaen, Amphoe Phu the khiao, Kaset Sombun and Nong Bua Daeng in Chaiyaphum Province and Amphoe Mueang Phetchabun, Lom Sak and Nam Nao in Phetchabun province.

In the south of the district lies the Wildlife Reserve Phu khiao ( " Phu khiao Wildlife Sanctuary ").

Through the Chulabhorn Dam of Maenam Nam Phrom ( Nam Phrom River ) is dammed to form an approximately twelve square kilometer artificial lake. The 700 meter long and 70 meter high dam was completed in 1973, it is used to produce energy hydroelectrische.

History

At the beginning of the Rattanakosin period in the late 18th century resulted in a certain Phumi some settlers from the city ( Müang ) Nakhon Thai, then part of Phitsanulok, to found a new settlement here in this area. During the reign of King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) Khon San was downgraded to a tambon of Amphoe Phu khiao. On August 16, 1958, was again separated from Phu khiao to be set up as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ). He was at the time of the three Tambon Khon San, Khun and Thung Phra Now. On December 10, 1959 Khon San officially got the full Amphoe status.

Management

Amphoe Khon San is divided into eight subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 83 villages ( Muban ).

Khon San ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คอน สาร ) is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, which covers parts of tambon Khon San and Dong Bang.

In addition, there are eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
