Khon Sawan District

Amphoe Khon Sawan ( Thai: อำเภอ คอนสวรรค์ ) is a district ( Amphoe = administrative district ) of Chaiyaphum province. The Chaiyaphum Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

The neighboring districts are starting clockwise from the North: Amphoe Khok Pho Chai which, Waeng Yai and Noi Waeng the province of Khon Kaen, Amphoe Kaeng Sanam Nang Province Amphoe Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima and Chaiyaphum and Amphoe Kaeng Khro in the province of Chaiyaphum.

History

Khon Sawan is an old city, it was formerly called Mueang Ka Long. It was founded at the same time as Mueang Korat Phraya Khun Han, a cousin of the governor of Korat.

Management

Amphoe Khon Sawan is in nine communities ( tambon) divided which in turn consist of 103 villages ( Muban ).

There is also a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Khon Sawan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล คอนสวรรค์ ) consists of parts of the Tambon Khon Sawan, as well as from parts of tambon Khok Mang Ngoi.

In addition, there are nine " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
