Khor Shingawi

In Khor Shingawi in today's northern Sudan are the remains of a palatial building, which ( approximately 500 to 1500) probably dates to Christian times.

Khor Shingawi is about 12.5 km from the Nile River, south of the flooded by the Merowe Dam fourth Nilkataraktes. The building is largely isolated in the landscape. The building is rectangular and built of stone. It is divided into three parts with about 20 rooms and corridors that are located on two levels, with some of the rooms are spread over an approximately one meter high podium. In the center is a courtyard, where there is also a ramp is that leads to the podium. The building is known only from field surveys. His former function and precise dating for the time being remain unknown.
