Khuan Kalong District

Amphoe Khuan Kalong ( Thai: อำเภอ ควนกาหลง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Satun. The Satun province is located in the west of the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Palian the province of Trang, Amphoe Pa Bon Phatthalung Province, the Amphoe Rattaphum, Hat Yai, Khlong Hoi Khong and Sadao of Songkhla Province and Amphoe Khuan Don, Amphoe Tha Phae, Amphoe La - ngu and Amphoe Manang in the province of Satun.

History

Khuan Kalong was born on June 1, 1969 initially as a small district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the three Tambon Thung Nui, Pae -ra and Tha Phae Mueang Satun from Amphoe were separated. On September 8, 1976 Khuan Kalong got the full Amphoe status. On 1 June 1976, the two southwestern tambon of the district were separated from Amphoe Tha Phae. In 1996, the northwestern portion was separated, in order to form Amphoe Manang.

  • Panan Waterfall - in Tambon Thung Nui, 38 km from Khuan Kalong away with year-round water flow from the Ka - Ming mountains
  • Than Sawan Waterfall - waterfall in Tambon Khuan Kalong five-stage, about 12 km from the district administration
  • Wildlife Sanctuary Khao Banthat(เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาบรรทัด)
  • Wildlife Reserve Don Ngachang ( เขต รักษา พันธุ์ สัตว์ ป่า โตน งาช้าง )
  • Forest reserve Thara Sawan Namtok ( วนอุทยาน น้ำตก ธารา สวรรค์ )

Management

Amphoe Khuan Don is divided into three subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 31 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
