Khubz

Chubz (Arabic خبز, DMG ḫubz ), other spellings Khubz, Khuboos or Khubus is called in Arab countries in general " bread ". Specifically, an Arabic flatbread is meant. It is one of the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and the Palestinian territories to the staple foods.

Description

Chubz resembles a large pita bread and is usually baked in a special oven, called " Tannur ". In this case, the dough is a pizza rotated on a circular disk, until he has the right size, and is then baked on the inside of the furnace. If the Chubz is fully baked, it puffs up and has characteristic brown spots. To remove the sandwich from the furnace wall, a wire hook is used. The traditional Iraqi Khubz differs in that it does not form a pocket. But the common variant with bag is very popular.

Chubz has a similarity with Indian flat breads such as chapatis, Yufkas Turkish and Mexican tortillas.

Composition

Chubz consists of a dough, which consists of coarse wheat flour or whole wheat flour with the addition of water, salt and oil. Rarely, the spices are untergemengt.
