Khulna
Division
Khulna ( Bengali: খুলনা, Khulna ) is a city in Bangladesh. It is the capital of the eponymous Division (administrative unit ) and with over 1.3 million inhabitants ( as of 2004) the third largest city in the country ( according to Dhaka and Chittagong ).
Geography
Khulna is located on the rivers Rupsha and Bhairab - both side arms of the Ganges in its estuary - in the southwest of the country between the capital Dhaka (distance about 375 km) and the Indian Kolkata.

Attractions
The city of Khulna is no distinct tourist town, but it can be used as a starting point for boat trips. South of town is a swamp and jungle area. The Sundarbans National Park is considered to be worth seeing.
Economy
Khulna is for the country is a major center for trade and industry, of relevance here is the Mongla port. In addition to the jute industry, the chemical and bauwollverarbeitenden leather industry is located here. With the capital, Dhaka, there are air, train and sea.
Religion
Khulna is the seat of a Roman Catholic bishop (→ diocese Khulna )
