For recognized Caliph al- Mutadid ( 892-902 ) to the rule of the Tulunids in Egypt and Syria, and married a daughter Chumarawaihs.

In the following years Chumarawaih had to deal with the increasingly arbitrary nascent army emirs of the troops. But this did not prevent him to start an extensive construction activity and to indulge a sumptuous court life. This, however, public finances were ruined. Chumarawaih was assassinated in February 896 by a servant in Damascus. Was succeeded by his sons Abul Asakir ( 896 ) and Harun ( 896-904 ).
