The Khunjerab National Park is located in the southwestern part of the province of Gilgit- Baltistan in Pakistan and was founded in 1975 on the advice of the naturalist George Schaller of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The total area covers 2270 km ², making it one of the largest national parks in the country. To the south it borders the Central Karakorum National Park, on the north by 14000 km ² Taxkorgan Reserve in China.

The park was established primarily for the protection of rare Marco Polo argali. In addition it is home to snow leopards, wolves, brown bears, Siberian ibex and blue sheep.
