Khustain Nuruu National Park

The Hustai National Park (also: Khustain - Nuruu National Park, in German: " Birch Mountains National Park ", Mongolian Хустайн нуруу дархан цаазат газар ) is a national park in Mongolia, which is located 100 kilometers southwest of Ulaanbaatar in Töw Aimag. It was founded in 2003. Through the park of the Tuul River runs.

First, more than 50,000 hectares of Khustain - Nuruu area were declared a protected area category III in 1993. After basic scientific research, the area was upgraded in 1998 to a national park with an area of 506 km ². Is operated by the Park Foundation, which was founded in 2003 Hustai National Park Trust ( HNPT ) in collaboration with the Mongolian Ministry of Nature and Environment.

Wildlife

In addition to the reintroduced Przewalski's wild horses, even Siberian elk, Mongolia gazelles, deer, argali, Siberian ibex, wild boars, wolves, lynx, Manuls, steppe foxes, red foxes, badgers and marmots are found in the park. Among the 127 bird species of the park golden eagle, bearded vulture and black stork are emphasized.
