Khyan

Chajan, also Chijaran, Chajran or Chian, was an ancient Egyptian Hyksoskönig (Pharaoh) of the 15th dynasty, reigned in the Second Intermediate Period.

Regency

So far, this ruler was regarded as the predecessor of Apophis and he was identifiert as Iannas of Manetho. The predecessor of Apophis are the Royal Canon of Turin 20 years (the name is lost there, it is only reconstructed ), Manetho but 50 years Longevity. William Ward continues Chajan to the beginning of the 15th Dynasty, Thomas Schneider, however, suggests an identity with King Apachnas. This latter identification - or at least an early date - receive a confirmation by recent discoveries. In Edfu to seal impressions of Chajan found together with those of Sobekhotep IV, suggesting that both rulers reigned about the same time. Chajan making it one of the earliest Hyksos rulers and does not belong to the end of the Hyksos period as it was mostly accepted.

The term Heqa Chasut means " ruler of foreign lands ", which is derived the word Hyksos and is known for this king of three cylinder seals and scarabs different. This title is never found, however, with the classic King titles, which are also supported for Chajan combined. This may indicate that he was Heqa Chasut before he ascended the throne.

In Avaris were found the remains of a palace with seal impressions that bear his name. The palace may be assigned to it. In Bubastis was found a fragment of a seated statue from the Middle Kingdom, which was usurped by him. A native of Gebelein granite block gave rise to the presumption that he ruled in Upper Egypt. A basalt lion was bought in Baghdad, the lid of a vessel obsidian at Knossos on Crete, with the inscription " The Good God Seuserenre, son of Re, Chajan " found. Another comes from Hattusa. The ruler will appear along with the King's eldest son Yanassi On a stele from Avaris.
