Kia Retona
The Kia Retona is the Korean manufacturer Kia Motors an SUV. It is the civil version of the Korean military jeeps, which is based on the same chassis as the Kia Sportage. The name stands for Retona Return to Nature. Main competitors of the Kia Retona were the Suzuki Jimny and the Lada Niva.
Model history and construction
Kia introduced the first time in 1997 as a successor to the Asia Rocsta presented individuals in Germany in 1999 initially only in the version with four-cylinder turbo diesel and five-speed manual transmission a. In 2000, they put a petrol engine of the same displacement, a year later the model without direct successor has been discontinued.
All-wheel drive
In normal road use ( two-wheel drive ), the front wheels are separated from the drive train. This unnecessary wear of the front drive train as well as increased fuel consumption is avoided. The separation is achieved through the freehub. The blocking of the freehub is done either automatically or manually.
The automatic freewheel hubs work with either vacuum or mechanical. In automatic free wheeling hubs, a piece must be run after switching off the all-wheel drive backwards to enable the freewheeling again. This does not apply to the pneumatic, controlled by vacuum freehub.
In manual freewheel hub, the freewheel directly to the wheel hub must ge - or be unlocked before switching and after switching off the all-wheel drive.
