Kiang Central

Kiang Central is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative divisions - the West African nation of Gambia. It is one of six districts in the Lower River Region.

According to a calculation by 2013 there live about 8018 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 7886th

The name is derived from Kiang, a former small kingdom.

Population

According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest population group, the Mandinka with a share of about seven -tenths, followed by the Fula and Wolof. The distribution in detail: 65% of Mandinka, Fula 32.5 %, 0.6 % Wolof, Jola 0.6 %, 0 % Serahule, 0.6 % Serer, Aku 0.1 %, 0 % Manjago, 0.2 Bambara % and 0.4 % other ethnicities.
