Geography

Kiebingen is located approximately three kilometers east of Rottenburg am Neckar, about eight kilometers southwest of Tübingen. Situated near the village are located on both sides of the Neckar nature reserves Upper Steinach and Burglehen each having a special meaning as resting, breeding, and feeding ground for birds represent.

History

The first written mention of the village dates back to the year 1204 " Chubingen " back. Two series discovered graves from the 5th century suggest, however on a very long history. In 1342 the Pauline monastery pipe piles was south of town founded as a hermitage of the Pauline hermits. The monastery went through over the centuries flowering and decline, until it was disbanded in 1748 and demolished in the 19th century.

In the 1970s, a research group led by Utz Jeggle from Institute for Empirical Cultural Studies at the University of Tübingen explored using the example of Kiebingen social history and civilization process in rural communities. Community partnership

Kiebingen and the French community of Lion-sur -Mer in Normandy have signed a partnership agreement on 8 October 1988. The links between the two places that are created by the previous Kiebinger pastor Karl Rupp, have existed since the early 70s.

Power station
