Kiel Opera House
The Kiel Opera House is a Grade II listed building in the capital of Schleswig -Holstein and venue of the theater Kiel.
History
After an architectural competition in 1898 advertised the Kiel magistrate instructed the Berlin architect Heinrich Seeling 1902 with the construction of the Municipal Theatre, a venue for drama and musical theater. The implementation of the brick building with a rich structure of sandstone and lush modeled roof zone lasted from 1905 until 1907. On 1 October 1907, the theater was at the former Neumarkt with the prelude to Parsifal, the prologue of The Art a house and a performance of Fidelio inaugurated.
During the Second World War Allied air raids destroyed on December 13, 1943, May 22, 1944, and July 24, 1944, the heavy municipal theater. In the wake of the destruction of the inner Nouveau decor was lost. The reconstruction - while retaining the surrounding walls - took place from 1950 to 1953 under the direction of Heinrich Hansen and Guido Widmann. The ballet keel was conducted from 2001 to 2010 by Mario Schröder as artistic director and chief choreographer from 2011 took over Yaroslav Ivanenko and Heather Jurgensen, the ballet company.
