Kiel Transmission Tower

The Telecommunication Tower Kiel is the tallest building in the city of Kiel. Digital TV DVB -T and some FM radio programs are broadcast from this telecommunications tower. It is located in Vieburger wood and is not accessible to the public.

Building

The architect Gerhard roundabout and Günter H. Müller in Kiel designed this special tower. On June 16, 1973 started the construction of the foundation was completed on 23 December 1973. On March 10, 1974, the Gleitarbeiten began on November 15, 1974 Topping-out ceremony was celebrated. The construction was completed on 31 October 1975. The total height was about 230 meters upon completion.

As part of the DVB- T expansion, the tower on 23 October 2004 received a new antenna through which the tower has lost about five feet in height.

Like all other major telecommunication towers, this building is one of Deutsche Telekom AG.

Replicas

Replicas of the tower took place in Bremen, Münster and Cuxhaven. The applied during the construction of the Kiel tower precast construction of the conical shell of the operating pulpit was no longer applied in the aforementioned replicas for copyright reasons.
