Kiental is a village and a valley in the Bernese Oberland, the politically belongs to the municipality of Reichenbach.
Geography
The Kiental is located northeast of the Kander and runs approximately parallel to it. The village Kiental just above the town Reichenbach and below the Griesalp. Laterally it is bounded by the mountains tricorn, Gehrihorn and Ärmighorn. 1972, a lake was dammed on the Tschingelsee after a storm. The newly created Tschingelsee is now back on the silt. Since 1987 he is a nature reserve.

Kiental is connected by Reichenbach from the post bus to the public transport network. From Kiental the steepest Postbus Europe leads (28 % in the Pochtenschlucht ) further to the Griesalp. From the village a chairlift goes to Ramslauenen.
History
Since 1899 there is a postal service of Reichenbach to Kiental. 1930, the coach traffic was replaced by the post office car and continued down to the Griesalp.
The Second Conference of the International Socialists held, attended by, inter alia, Lenin, Zinoviev, Robert Grimm and Angelica Balabanova - In April 1916 took place in the hotel bears in Kiental - disguised as a tourist event.
Sport and Leisure
In addition to several playgrounds, there is a tennis court, which is used in winter as a skating rink. In the summer of Kientalerhof operates a public swimming pool. The road to Ramslauenen is used in winter as a toboggan run. At full moon the chairlift operates even at night.
Education
Previously, the primary classes were taught in the school building. Because of an insufficient number of students the school has ceased operations. Today, the school building has been used by various local clubs and as a venue. The Kientalerhof offers various recognized education programs in the field of bodywork.
Attractions
The Kiental is the starting point for mountain hikes and mountain tours, eg via the Hohtürli to Kandersteg or to the Blüemlisalp peak. The Wildwasserweg and the trail leads hikers to whirlpools and waterfalls. A power plant project, which would have destroyed the beauty of nature forever, has not been realized.
