Kierzkowo, Wejherowo County

Kierzkowo ( German Kerschkow ) is a village in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the Choczewo in Wejherowski powiat (district Neustadt in West Prussia ).

Geographical Location and Transport

The village is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 27 kilometers north- northeast of the city Lębork ( Lauenburg in Pomerania ), two kilometers southwest of the church village Osieki ( Ossecken ) and three kilometers north-west of the village Choczewo ( Chottschow or Gotendorf ). The distance to the Baltic Sea in the north is about 6.5 kilometers. About two kilometers southeast of the village, the national road No. 213 runs Slupsk - Krokowa ( Stolp - Krockow ) that crosses the eastern Pomerania to West Prussia.

History

In older times was Kerschkow (formerly also Kerskow ) a noble estate. In 1535 the family Lübtow is called in Kerschkow. Lehnbriefe that affected a quarter of the village were Kerschkow, 1569 issued in 1535 by Duke Barnim for Peter and Paul, Gevettern the Lubbetowen for Jacob, Batholomäus, Hans and Adrian and Duke John Frederick in 1569 for Jacob and Adrian. Towards the end of the 18th century, the family possessed Lübtow in Lauenburg goods Lübtow, Kerschkow, Bichow and shares of Zelasen, big and small Lüblow and in Stolp the Good Bochowke. Prior to 1732 as owner in Kerschkow a member of the old-established in Pomerania family Jatzkow called. 1756, who worked in the state government of Lauenburg - Buetow judicial officers Georg Albrecht sat by Sulicki on Kerschkow. Around 1784 there was a Vorwerk, two farmers, three Kossäten, on the field mark of the village is a restaurant as well as a water mill and a total of eleven households. The Barbican was around this time in the possession of Michael Christian of Lübrow. Even in 1803, the family has owned Lübtow in Kerschkow. By 1814, were in the Gutsbezirk two farmhouses and five Kossätenhöfe (last Kossäten: Jach, Rettke, Franz Wegener and Bogislaff Wegener) dilapidated, lapsed or been abandoned in part by the former owners; the seven farms were therefore put up for auction in February 1815 from patrimonial to Kerschkow public. The affected farmers Teßmann, who held the mayor's office was, died previously. The affected by this Court's decision second farmer named Milczewski has later complained in this regard against the Gutsherrschaft Kerschkow. Before 1866 Kerschkow had 155 inhabitants.

In 1925 the village had 682 inhabitants Kerschkow community, which were distributed to 131 households.

Before 1945 Kerschkow belonged to the district of Lauenburg i Pom. in the administrative region of Pomerania Pomerania. The 26.2 km ² municipal area was home to a total of nine Locations:

Towards the end of the Second World War, the region beginning in March 1945 was conquered by the Red Army and then put together with all Pomerania under Polish administration. Kerschkow was renamed Kierzkowo. As far as they were not previously fled the German villagers have been displaced in the subsequent period.

Kierzkowo is now part of Gmina Choczewo (Town Chottschow ) in Wejherowski powiat (district Neustadt in Westpreußem ) of the Pomeranian Voivodeship ( 1975-1998 of Gdansk voivodship ). On 31 December 2009 Kierzkowo had 220 inhabitants.

Church

The pre-1945 living in Kerschkow villagers were predominantly Protestant. In 1925 Kerschkow had a population of Catholic denomination. Kerschkow was the parish since the early days of the Reformation in the parish Ossecken. The Catholic parish was in Wierschutzin.
