The Passage Kiev (Ukrainian Пасаж Київ / Passasch Kyiv, russian Пассаж Киев / Passasch Kiev ) is a complex of buildings in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

The passage forms a small, narrow stretch of road between the Khreshchatyk No.15 and Wulyzja Sankowezkoji and is one of the coziest and most romantic places in the center of Kiev.

The passage was built in the years 1913/1914 in Art Nouveau style with elements of neo-classicism became a center of cultural life. It has many cafes, restaurants and a collection of high-priced boutiques and shops on the ground floor of the building. On the upper floors are apartments and flats. Near the entrance of the passage is the Avenue of Stars, have been immortalized on the famous stars on 17 Ukrainians from culture and sport.

History

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was on the grounds of a one -acre estate was acquired by the insurance company " Russia" for 1.5 million rubles to here a large shopping center with shops and offices on the ground floor and apartments on the to build upper floors. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the bulk part of the passage was destroyed in the fall of 1941. After the war it was decided to reconstruct the building, and so the facades of a 6-storey buildings were 1948-1950 and restored at the beginning of the passage built with a large archway. 2004 planned the Kiev city administration to re- restoration of the passage where the residents fought back against him, as they feared that under the guise of the facade renovation, the passage would be increased.
