Kij Johnson

Katherine Irenae Johnson ( born January 20, 1961 in Harlan (Iowa )) is a American writer, the science fiction and mystery novels and short stories has been published.

Life

Kij Johnson comes from a family of publishers. Her grandfather was publisher of agricultural magazines and their grandparents and parents were lecturers. Her mother was a school librarian and always brought books home. At St. Olaf College in Northfield (Minnesota) Kij Johnson received her bachelor's degree and worked as an editor for various publishers, managed bookstores and worked in radio. At 25, she began to write. In 1987 she then sold her first story.

Since 1997 she is member of the jury in the final of the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award. She is Deputy Director of the Centre for Science Fiction Studies and since 2012 Assistant Professor in Writing at the University of Kansas.
