Kiko Argüello

Kiko Argüello, actually, Francisco José Gómez Argüello Wirtz, ( born January 9, 1939 in León) [ pronunciation of the surname: Argweʎo ] is a Spanish painter and one of the founders of the Neocatechumenal path, an itinerary for the formation of a Christian life within the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Argüello studied art at the Royal University of San Fernando in Madrid. He was also a student of Pablo Picasso. In 1959 he was awarded the National Art Award. The icon painter designed the Almudena Cathedral for the wedding of Spanish Prince Felipe and Letitia new pair.

Together with Carmen Hernández and Father Mario Pezzi founded Argüello in 1964 in the barracks of Madrid, the Neocatechumenal Way, a course of study, which is an instrument of the Roman Catholic Church as an introduction to the Christian faith today. Argüello and his two co-founders, the leadership of controversial even within the Catholic Church community have reserved for life.
