Kiko, Princess Akishino

Princess Kiko of Akishino (Japanese official:文 仁 亲 王妃 纪 子, Fumihito - shinnōhi Kiko or usually :秋 筱 宫 妃 纪 子, Akishino -no- miya hi Kiko, born September 11, 1966 as Kiko Kawashima (川岛 纪 子, Kawashima Kiko ) ), is the wife of Prince Akishino of Japan.

Kawashima Kiko was born in Shizuoka Prefecture. She is the only daughter of Kawashima Tatsuhiko, professor at Gakushuin University, and Kazuko Kawashima. She grew up in the United States, where her father taught at the University of Pennsylvania. The elementary school she attended in Vienna, when her father was working there. Thus they became fluent in English and German. She studied and graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Gakushuin University in 1989 from. She then studied further at Gakushuin on a doctorate and completed the first part of the study from 1995.

In the course of her studies she learned Prince Fumihito know, the younger brother of Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan. They married on 29 June 1990 in the Imperial Palace, Tokyo. Before the wedding, the Imperial Household Agency granted the prince permission to found a new branch of the imperial family. The Tennō awarded the title of his second son Akishino -no- miya (秋 筱 宫), from Prince Fumihito was the current Prince Akishino. His wife Princess Kiko Kiko officially became by marriage.

On 7 February 2006, the Imperial Household Agency announced that Princess Kiko was surprisingly pregnant again and expecting the child in the fall. On September 6, she brought a son into the world, for the Japanese imperial family, the first birth of a boy for more than forty years. The boy is the law after third in line to the throne after his uncle and his father.

She is the mother of three children:
