Kill Rock Stars

Kill Rock Stars is a US-based independent music label from Olympia in Washington State.

The label was founded in 1991 by Slim Moon. Moon initially wanted to publish vinyl singles with spoken texts. However, the label began to expand on various local bands like Unwound, Witchypoo, and the influential riot grrrl band Bikini Kill and Bratmobile and foreign bands like Huggy Bear from the UK.

Later, bands and solo artists like Sleater - Kinney, The Decemberists, Lois Maffeo, Mary Lou Lord, Elliott Smith, Mukilteo Fairies, Deerhoof, Jeff Hanson, The Thermals and Gossip were added. The publications of local bands performed contrast back getting stronger.
