Kim Bu-sik

Kim Bu -sik (* 1075, † 1151 ) was historian and politician at the time of the Goryeo dynasty. His main work is the Samguk Sagi ( 삼국사기 [ samk'uks'agi ] ,三国 史记), on the German "Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms ". It provides in addition to the Samguk Yusa, the most important work of the early history of Korea dar.

Life

Kim Bu -sik came from a noble family, whose ancestors were related to Silla royal family. He was born in 1075 in Silla capital of Gyeongju. In 1096 he applied for a post. After passing the entrance examination gwageo ( 과거 [ kwagə ] ,科举) he went through like most sons of yangban the usual office career. From 1120 he involved himself increasingly in political power struggles. As Myocheong instigated a coup in 1135, he fought on behalf of the King, the rebels successfully.

His fame in posterity owes the traditional name among his historical work Samguk Sagi.
