The Technical University Kim Ch'aek ( 김책 공업 종합 대학 ) is a university in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang. It is located in the district of Chung- guyŏk at the Yonggwang Street and the banks of the Taedong - gang. The university was opened on 27 September 1948 and is named after the general and politician Kim Ch'aek.

The University has 18 faculties and about 80 departments. The number of students is around 10,000. There are ten research institutes, 54 laboratories and a graduate school. About 2,000 employees work at the university.

Campus

The central university building was opened in 1992 and comprises 15 floors and a private courtyard. This is among other things a hall for 2000 people. The campus also includes addition of an e- library and a sports hall several institutes and research buildings, as well as student residences. The e- library was opened in 2006. It extends over five floors and a total area of ​​16,000 square kilometers. Inside are twelve computer reading rooms and four other conventional reading rooms.

The University Gymnasium was also opened in 2006. It houses next to the main arena four gyms, a sauna, and other ancillary rooms. It can accommodate 4,000 people and is used as a multi-functional hall addition to sporting events and business meetings.
