Kimberley Smith (athlete)

Kimberley Smith (also: Kim Smith, born November 19, 1981 in Papakura ) is a New Zealand middle and long distance runner.

A graduate of King's College in Auckland, she attended on a sports scholarship 2002-2005 Providence College in Rhode Iceland, where she met her current coach Ray Treacy.

At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she was eliminated in the semifinals of the 5000 -meter run. The following year, she won at the World Championships in Helsinki over 10,000 m to 15th place and won at the Universiade over 5000 m. In 2006, she had to pause because of Achilles tendon rupture and pulmonary embolism most of the season.

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, she was fifth over 10,000, at the World Indoor Championships 2008 in Valencia Sixth over 3000 m and at the 2008 Olympic Games Ninth 10,000 m. In the autumn she went to the New York City Marathon, but was at km 32.

In 2009 she came to be the best from non- African runner in 13th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Amman, was eighth at the World Championships in Berlin over 10,000 m, and with the national record of 1:09:35 h seventh at the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham.

In 2010 she was the half-marathon competition of the Mardi Gras Marathon Second and improved her national record to 1:07:55 h When the London Marathon was she Eighth, the Philadelphia Half Marathon and the New York City Marathon each fifth.

In 2011 she ran the half marathon route of the Mardi Gras Marathon the fastest ever time a woman on U.S. soil.

Kimberley Smith is 1,66 m tall and weighs 49 kg. She lives in Providence and starts for the company Reebok.
