Kimmie Meissner

Kimberly Claire " Kimmie " Meissner ( born October 4, 1989 in Towson, Maryland ) is an American figure skater who starts in a single run. It is the world champion of 2006.

Biography

Meissner is the youngest of four children of the couple Judy and Paul Meissner. She is Catholic. Meissner began at the age of six years with the figure skating, animated by her three older brothers who played hockey. She trained most of the time in figure skating club of the University of Delaware in Newark.

After they had become the first in the newcomers and 2004 first in the junior at the 2003 U.S. Championships, she won in 2005 at their first participation in the senior third place. In 2006 she was national runner-up behind Sasha Cohen and qualified for the Olympic Games in Turin. This she finished in sixth place. A little later she played her first World Cup in Calgary, Canada. She won the freestyle with seven seasoned Dreifachsperüngen, including two triple - triple combinations and thus the gold medal at her first World Championship. This was most recently the Ukrainian Oksana Bajul succeeded in the 1993 World Championships.

In 2007, Meissner was the first time U.S. champion and won the Four Continents Championships in Colorado Springs. At the World Cup, to which they traveled as defending champions, they finished fourth. In 2008, she finished seventh in their last World Cup for now. She then toured with the ice show Stars on Ice.

From 2003 to 2008 Meissner was coached by Pam Gregory, then she moved to Todd Eldredge and on its recommendation to its former coach Richard Callaghan. Since the fall of 2009, she is looked after by Chris Conte, who also choreographs ice shows for them. Meissner was only the second American woman by Tonya Harding, who sprang the triple axel regularly.
