Physiotherapy is an umbrella term for physiotherapy ( physical therapy ) exercises. These can be passive, assistiv, active or resistive performed. Physiotherapy is a classical manner by a / physiotherapist / in (formerly: Physical Therapist / in ) performed and / or instruction. The term physiotherapy is also used interchangeably with the concepts in physiotherapy physiotherapy or exercise therapy. The therapeutic exercise can be considered as the field of physiotherapy.

Special (passive, assistive, active or resistive) exercises and / or manual, performed by the therapist measures that serve the physical and structural mobilization, improving posture, a regulation (eg, strengthening, stretching, coordination) increase the muscles or nerves and the body awareness in the patient.

The physiotherapy is used for example in orthopedic environment to prevent and repair damage to the skeletal and locomotor system. In the areas of internal medicine, it promotes far-reaching the functionality of the cycle, for example by circulatory and pulmonary function training ( respiratory therapy).

In this sense, they have a link with the various forms of traditional oriental therapeutic exercises ( Qi Gong and others), which enjoy great popularity, especially since the last 20 years of the 20th century in Europe and successfully integrated into the European forms of physiotherapy methodology.

History of physiotherapy

One of the first who invented mechanical means for physiotherapy and built, was Karl Heinrich Klingert from Breslau. He published in 1810 a device that is already very similar to the present-day rehab equipment. With it, you could simultaneously train your arms and legs.
