King Cove ( aleut.: Agdaaĝux ) is a village with 807 inhabitants in the Aleutians East Borough, Alaska, in the United States of America. Almost all jobs in the community are located in fishing or fish processing industry. The Alaska Natives from the region King Coves, which account for almost half of the population, are Unangan the tribe of the Agdaaĝux.

Geography

The place is located in front of the King in King Cove Lagoon a bay on the Pacific side of the Alaska Peninsula. There are no roads connecting the settlements with other places, it is accessible only by air or sea. The King Cove harbor is one of the ports of the Alaska Marine Highway, according to the United States Census Bureau, the municipality covers an area 77.2 km ², of which 11.8 km ² water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 792 people in 170 households and 116 families. The population density is 12.1 inhabitants per km ². The population consists of the following groups: 15.03% White, 1.64 % African American, 46.72 % Native American, 26.77 % Asian, 0.13 % Pacific Islander 5.93% other ethnicities and 3.79 % are descended from two or more races. 7.45% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 170 households out of which 45.3 % have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5 % were married couples living together, 15.9 % had a female householder with no husband, and 31.2% were non-families. 25.3 % of all households are made up and in 2.9 % have someone living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.9 and the average family size is 3.53 people.

21.3% of the population were under 18 years old. 11.9 % from 18 to 24 years, 41 % between 25 and 44 years 22.7 % between 45 and 64, and 3% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 147.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 166.2 males.

The median income for a household was $ 45,893, and the median income for a family was $ 47,188. Males had a median income of $ 30,714 versus $ 19,125 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,791. 11.9 % of individuals and 3.3% of families are below the poverty line. 1.7 % of them are children and adolescents under age 18 and 27.3 % are 65 years or older.
