King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime

King for a Day ... Fool for a Lifetime is the fifth studio album by Faith No More. It was published on 28 March 1995 and published was the first without longtime guitarist Jim Martin. It is the only album with guitarist Trey Spruance.

Formation and style

After Jim Martin was fired after differences on the tour to Angel Dust - there were rumors that his guitar had been partially removed from the mix of that album - was hired Trey Spruance with the guitarist from Mike Patton's band Mr. Bungle. Resulted in an album with producer Andy Wallace already known at that time. Although the music is not always the complexity of reaching predecessor, but it includes a diverse mix of styles from more aggressive, more experimental songs ( The Gentle Art of Making Enemies ) via the keyboard -dominated but also funk influenced Evidence to the Gospel ( Just a Man). The song title of the former piece is from the book The Gentle Art of Making Enemies ( Eng.: The equine art of making enemies ) by James McNeill Whistler taken.

Reception

Uwe " Buffo " Schnädelbach saw Faith No More in Rock Hard, despite the dismissal of Jim Martin in good shape. It is true that the " bulk of the song" King for a Day -disclosing ... " only after intensive listening pleasure ", but eventually it made " click". He forgave nine out of ten. Greg Prato of Allmusic called King for a Day ... one of the most underrated releases from Faith No More. Guitarist Trey Spruance was " masterful " in the footsteps of Jim Martin. He forgave three and a half stars out of five. In the magazine Visions the plate in 2005 reached number 37 in the choice of " 150 albums for eternity ."
