King Mensah

Ayaovi Papavi Mensah, better known by his stage name King Mensah ( born August 12, 1971) is regarded as the Golden Voice of Togo. The Togolese sings in Ewe and French music combines the traditional Ewe ( Agbadza and Akpessé ) and Kabiye music, funk, reggae and Afropop. Mensah lives in Lomé.

Life

Mensah is the son of a Togolese father and a mother from Benin. At the age of nine, he began to take part in a traditional dance group. Later he was a member of the band Les Dauphin de la Capitale ( " The dolphins capital "). In the early 1990s he appeared as an actor in the Ki- Yi Theater M'Bock in Abidjan (Ivory Coast ), and then traveled as a singer and actor through Europe, Japan, French Guiana, France and Benin. Themes of his lyrics are influenced by religion and encouragement of orphans and the oppressed. In 2005, the Foundation Mensah King Mensa in Togo, the protection and education of orphans is dedicated to. It also operates an orphanage in Agbodrafo, 25 km east of Lome.
