  • The trailer hitch on the car. As several levels need to be balanced while driving, are likewise employed a kind of kingpin. Alternatively, a so-called gimbal would be possible. This is inherently much bulkier and more fragile when larger forces.
  • The tractor-trailer. On the semi-trailer king pin during coupling to the tractor (truck ) is connected. While driving lateral inclinations of the trailer and the movements in the same direction are compensated relative to the machine carriage on the fifth wheel. This diameter has been standardized worldwide on 2 and 3.5 inches.
  • When compass the king pin has a low tendency forces, where also several levels need to be balanced and the relatively complicated and bulky gimbal is employed.
