Kingston, Norfolk Island

The scattered settlement Kingston is the official capital of Norfolk Island, an Australian external territory.

In the settlement located next to the government building, a few military barracks and houses. Most of the buildings are ruins that are often visited by visitors.

The name of the settlement commemorates the arrival of Lieutenant Philip Gidley King on March 6, 1788.

Kingston is only de jure the capital of Norfolk Island. The economic center of the island, however, is Burnt Pine.
