Kingston Raiders

The Kingston Raiders was a Canadian ice hockey team from Kingston, Ontario. The team played in the 1988/89 season in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ).

History

Prior to the 1988/89 season earned Lou Kazowski bought the rights to the franchise in the Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Hockey League, which he then renamed Kingston Raiders. For marketing reasons Kazowski tried to give the team a hard appearance and therefore chose the name and jersey colors of the American football team the Los Angeles Raiders of the NFL, who were at that time as "hard" team. In her first and only OHL season, the Kingston Raiders occupied the last place of their division.

Kazowski decided to sell after only one year, the franchise due to disagreements with the OHL and the sporting failure. Among the members of the new group of investors were with Wren Blair and Bob Attersley also two former professional ice hockey player who played for the Kingston Fronteancs together in the Eastern Professional Hockey League and the OHL franchise gave the same name.
