Kinmon Incident

The uprising at Hamaguri Gate (Japanese蛤御門の変, Hamaguri - Gomon no Hen ) or rebellion to the Forbidden gates (禁門 の 変, Kinmon no Hen ) was held in Kyoto on 20 August 1864. He reflected the dissatisfaction prokaiserlicher or xenophobic groups ( sonno JOI ). In the bloody suppression of this revolt the Leader on Tosa fief was blamed for the uprising.
