Kinnie

Kinnie is the brand name of a soft drink that is produced by Simonds Farson Cisk since 1952 as an alternative to cola and other carbonated soft drinks in Malta.

The drink is amber-colored and carbonated and is among other things chinotto and herbs, in particular produced wormwood, from which arises also the rather bitter taste.

Since 1984, a light version exists since 2007 with KinnieZest another low-calorie variant similar to the "zero " line of other soft drink manufacturers.

Kinnie is within Malta in 33cl cans and PET bottles of 0.5, 1.5, respectively. 2 liters available. The PET bottles have the usual until about 2005 Glass bottles of 33cl and one liter practically completely. Still exists a 25cl bottle (without light or zest) For restaurants.

Outside of Malta is Kinnie only available through a few importers and mainly in cans.

Within Malta, there are other sweet drinks ( part of larger corporations ) that mimic the taste of Kinnie.
