Region

Kiota is a rural municipality in the department of Boboye in Niger.

Geography

Kiota is located at the junction of the Sahel to large landscape Sudan at Wadi Dallol Bosso. The neighboring municipalities are Koygolo in the north, Garankédey in the east, Birni N'Gaouré and N'Gonga in the south and Harikanassou in the West. The municipality is divided into 31 administrative villages, 17 traditional villages, five villages and a warehouse. The main town of the country church is Kiota consisting of the administrative villages Kiota Mayaki Windi Béri, Kiota Oumarou and Kiota Oumarou Peul.

History

Kiota was, according to tradition founded by Ali Koda, son of Tagorou Ganna. In 1800, the Zarma - settlement were burnt down by enemy Hausa.
