Kiowa County (Oklahoma)

Kiowa County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hobart.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern Oklahoma, is in the west about 60 km away to the south about 40 miles from Texas and has an area of ​​2669 square kilometers, of which 42 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Washita County, Caddo County, Comanche County, Tillman County, Jackson County and Greer County.

History

Kiowa County was formed in 1901 as an original county. The County was settled by white settlers after an official land lottery on 1 August 1901. It was named after the Indian tribe of Kiowa.
