Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw

Kiran Mazumdar - Shaw ( born March 23, 1953 in Bangalore ) is an Indian entrepreneur. She is Chairman & Managing Director of Biocon Ltd.. Through the listing of their company in 2004, she was the richest woman in India.

Life

Kiran Mazumdar - Shaw was born in Bangalore, the daughter of a brewery employee. There she attended the Bishop Cotton Girls School and Mount Carmel College. In 1973 she graduated from the Bangalore University from her studies with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. Then she went to Australia to study brewing to the Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education (now University of Ballarat ).
