History

Graf Gottfried IV von Arnsberg sold the noblemen of the county on March 15, 1366 two farms and the parish backs to Yfelpe (now Kirchilpe ). The sale I stretched over the entire district, including the church, the parish and Kusterhaus, the two courts, a cotta and Wallburg Kirchilpe which lay to the south of the village. The small basic rule that once belonged to this castle, was therefore to 1368 arnsbergisches fiefs owned by the noble lords of the county, but since then again the immediate possession of the Counts of Arnsberg and the archbishops of Cologne, 1368 the County of Arnsberg purchased commercially. 1587 Parish of Kirchilpe was moved to Dorlar. The Kirchilper farmers paid their Hofpacht until the 19th century to the Oberkellnerei Arnsberg.

During the municipal reorganization took place on 1 January 1975, the inclusion of the community Dorlar with the place Kirchilpe in the new town of Schmallenberg. In 2000, the erosion threatened remains of the early medieval fortified settlement Kirchilpe were uncovered by excavations.
