Geography

Kirchscheidungen between Freyburg ( Unstrut) and Nebra on the Wine Route Saale- Unstrut. The Unstrut flows north past the town.

History

The town was first mentioned in 786 in the Breviarium Sancti Lulli and in the resulting 880-899 Hersfeld tithe directory as Scidinge. In a deed dated October 31, 1294 he appears as a church ski things later as Kerscheydingen. The manor located therein Kirchscheidungen location and had a checkered history. Anniversary

In 2011 Kirchscheidungen celebrated its 1225th anniversary of the first mention. The events for this have been over the whole year by various institutions and associations performed. Particularly active occurred while next to the municipality itself, the fire brigade in appearance.

Manor

The manor Kirchscheidungen has over eight hundred years. The basic shape is a great Vierseitenhof with representative manor house and surrounding farm buildings is clearly visible today.

Museum of Local History

In the old manor on Lohberg is located in the former mansion, the later Inspector House, the studio of Margitta beer with an exhibition of watercolors from several decades. Also housed is a local history museum with commodity and household items from four centuries farmers and home economics as well as in daily life. The house located in the ostrich industry, the wine cellar and the former prison is open to interested visitors.

Monument

In the village there is a monument to the poet of Prussia song, the church Scheid Ungers Bernhard Thiersch ( 1793-1855 ).

Church

Located in the immediate vicinity of the church dates from the 11th/12th. Century and was probably built at the behest of Bishop of Bamberg Otto I.. It is noteworthy that the church was not the usual built in east-west direction, but the choir has to northeast and accordingly the other end of the church shows the tower in southwestern direction! In the church there are several epitaphs of the former lords of the manor and court masters of Rockhausen

Traffic

West of the town, the federal highway 250 which leads from Eckartsberga about Bad Bibra after cross- ford, and to the south the highway runs 176 of Freyburg ( Unstrut) to Sömmerda. Through the village the Unstrut train from Naumburg ( Saale) leads to Nebra / Artern.

Tourism

  • North of Kirchscheidungen the Unstrut Nebra about Karsdorf flows past Kirchscheidungen more about Lauchagrund, Freyburg up to your mouth in the Saale near Naumburg. From Kirchscheidungen there are 19.2 miles to the mouth. For water walkers, there is a boat launch and camping area with showers and toilets.
  • The Unstrut cycle path on the opposite side of the Unstrut past Kirchscheidungen.
  • In the manor a wine bar, a historic prison and home office can be visited.
  • Right on the Unstrut finds a canoe rentals, camping and tipi village.

Economy

  • Located in the lower village you will find the Weingut Klaus Boehme. The farm can look back on 300 years of agricultural and viticultural experience. Since 1990, the farm is cultivated again.
