Kirchwalsede is a town on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath in the Samtgemeinde Bothel in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme ) in Lower Saxony.

Geographical Location

Kirchwalsede located at the triangle between Rotenburg ( Wumme), Visselhoevede and Verden (Aller) in the foothills of the natural space Stader Geest belonging Achim- Verden Geest, where Rotenburg ( Wümme) with 12.3 km is the nearest city. History

The original name Walsede goes back to the river names Walse, the identity of which is occupied by the still existing Fuhlbach through old field names. The ending- sede the name suggests research to a development period between the 1st and 5th centuries. Later, the daughter settlements Westerwalsede and Süderwalsede emerged.

For the first time Westerwalsede was mentioned in 1231, and Süderwalsede Walsede place until around 1320 entrance into a holding register of the bishop of Verden.
