Kirchweiler

Kirchweiler is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Daun.

History

The village appears in the records for the first time in 1201, as a nobleman from the Abbey Berlingen Himmerod bequeathed an estate at Kirchweiler. The undisputed ruler was from 1398 the Archbishopric of Trier. 1600 registered for 16 hearths in the meantime to the rule of down and to the domination of Kasselburg belonging to the village. The number dropped from the course of the plague and the Thirty Years War to 1654 to only 6 households. 1684 has already been found to increase to 10, which would correspond to about 50 residents.
