Kireyevsk
Kirejewsk (Russian Киреевск ) is a city in Russia with a population of 25,557 (as of October 14, 2010 ). It is located in the Tula Oblast, nearly 40 km south-east of the regional capital Tula.
History
The place is known since the second half of the 18th century. It was founded by Cossacks as a village Kirejewskaja. In the 19th century began the industrial promotion of the iron ore deposit in the vicinity of the village, the iron was delivered primarily at the Tula Arms Factory. In the 1920s, lignite deposits were opened near Kirejewsk. This led to an expansion of the town by -arrived miners. 1956 Kirejewsk received the city status.

Economy and Transport
In the city there are now several industries, including a metal processing, a chemical plant, a furniture factory and several food and textile factories. The main economic activities in the surrounding area are coal mining and agriculture. About ten kilometers east of the city runs the highway M4. The nearest railway station is located in the city Uslowaja 20 km east of Kirejewsk.
