Kiril Lazarov ( Macedonian Кирил Лазаров; born May 10, 1980 in Titov Veles, SR Macedonia, SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Macedonian handball player. He is 1.93 m tall.

Lazarov, who plays for Spanish club FC Barcelona and for the Macedonian men's handball team ( back number 7) runs is mostly used as a back room on the right. His younger brother Filip also plays handball.

Career

Kiril Lazarov began in 1991 with RK Ovce Pole in his hometown with the handball game. He quickly noticed and moved in 1994 to RK Boreč Veles, the biggest club in the city. At 15 he made his debut in the European Cup against Dinamo Bucharest. At age 16, he went to the top-flight club RK Pelister Bitola. Here he was in 1998, 1999 and 2000, the Macedonian league and cup; so that he came from Croatia to target the large Badel Zagreb, who signed him in 2000 and with whom he was in 2001 and 2002 Croatian champion and cup winner. In 2002 he went to the Hungarian giants Fotex Veszprém. With the men from Lake Balaton, he won the championships in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 and national cups in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007 and became a crowd favorite.

He became internationally known in the 2005/06 season, when he was top scorer of the EHF Champions League with 85 hits; a year earlier he had scored 76 goals already. In the summer of 2006, rumors were circulating that he would switch to the SC Magdeburg Gladiators in the German handball league or to FC Barcelona in the Spanish league ASOBAL; But Lazarov initially remained in Veszprém. In 2007 he decided to sign on at his former club, who now calls himself RK Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb. For the 2010/11 season Lazarov Zagreb turned his back and moved to Spain to BM Ciudad Real. Due to the license transfer of BM Ciudad Real to Atlético Madrid, he has been running since 2011 for Madrid. On 7 June 2013, the FC Barcelona announced the commitment Lazarovs for the next two years.

In the 2007 /08 season he won together with the Icelanders Ólafur Stefánsson 96 meeting for the second time scorer crown of the EHF Champions League and although he played four games less than the Icelanders. At the 2009 World Championships in Croatia the Macedonians reach 92 goals. He is currently the player who scored the most goals in a World Cup tournament. Previously, Yoon Kyung -shin held in South Korea with 86 hits, situated at the World Cup in 1995 in Iceland, this record.

At the European Championship 2012 in Serbia, where his team finished 5th, get him 61 goals. He is also the player to get the most goals in a European Championship. Kiril Lazarov is the first player, who managed the record with the most goals both at a European Championship, as well as in the World Cup to hold.

Kiril Lazarov has been disputed over 150 appearances for the Macedonian national team.
