Kirindy Mitea National Park

The National Park Kirindy Mitea is a national park in the region Menabe on the west coast of Madagascar. It lies between the rivers Maharivo and Lampaolo and about 90 km south of the nearest large town Morondava.

Fauna

In the National Park Kirindy Mitea live eleven species of mammals, including ten endemic species. This includes the Berthe mouse lemur, which occurs exclusively in this area, further 47 bird species, including 33 endemic and 23 endemic reptiles.

Flora

185 species live in this protected area, including the baobab (Adansonia grandidieri ), which can reach up to 40m height, Givotia madagascariensis and Albizzia greveana, whose wood is used in traditional shipbuilding, Colvillera racemosa and Uncarina stellulifera.
