The Kirkstone Pass is a mountain pass in the Lake District in Cumbria, England.

The A592 leads over the pass and connects Ambleside Patterdale. With a height of 454 meters it is the highest motorable pass in the Lake District.

To the west of the pass lies the Middle Dodd. On the eastern side of the pass is bounded by the mountains of the caudal and moor Hartsop Dott.

On the Kirkstone Pass stems from the Kirkstone Beck.

On the northern side of the pass below the Hartsop Dott is a disused quarry. On the south side near the summit is the Kirkstone Pass Inn, the third highest pub in England.

The name of the passport is from a stone, the Kirkstone, the close of the pub is towards Patterdale beside the road. The stone looks a church tower ( " kirk " is the Old Norse "church" ) is similar.
