Kirovske, Donetsk Oblast

Kirowske (Ukrainian Кіровське; Russian Кировское / Kirowskoje ) is a mining town in the Donets Basin in eastern Ukraine in the Donetsk Oblast with about 28,000 inhabitants.

It lies about 80 kilometers northeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Donetsk, was established in 1954 as a mining town to mining the coal deposits near the village Krestowka ( Крестовка ). Since 1958 Kirowske, which is named after the Soviet party official Sergei Kirov Mironovich, the city status since 1987 in the rank of a city under Oblastverwaltung.
