Kirsten Emmelmann

Kirsten Emmelmann (born Siemon, born April 19, 1961 in Warnemünde), is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner, who - starting for the GDR - was in the 400 - meter race in the 1980 world leader. Her achievements, she won the 4 x 400 - meter relay: 1987 she became world champion and 1988 Olympic bronze medalist. Its most important success in the individual race was the third place at the World Athletics Championships 1987. 1986 and 1988, she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Kirsten Emmelmann competed for the SC Empor Rostock ( Coach: Wolfgang Meier ) and after her marriage to the SC Magdeburg ( Coach: Klaus Wübbenhorst ). In her playing days, she was 1.73 m tall and weighed 63 kg. Since 1984 she is married to her colleague Frank Sprinter Emmelmann. After the end of their sports career, she worked in the sporting goods trade.
