Kirtland I. Perky

Kirtland Irving Perky ( born February 8, 1867 in Smithville, Wayne County, Ohio; † January 9, 1939 in Los Angeles ) was an American lawyer and politician (Democratic Party), who represented the state of Idaho in the U.S. Senate.

After attending the public schools Kirtland I. Perky in 1888 graduated from the Ohio Northern University in Ada. He studied law at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and was admitted to the bar in 1890, after which he began practicing as a lawyer in Wahoo (Nebraska ). In 1894 he moved to Albion to Idaho, where he was District Judge for the Fourth District Court of the State. Later he worked as a lawyer in Boise.

After the death of Republican U.S. Senator Weldon B. Heyburn on October 17, 1912 Perky of Idaho's democratic Governor James H. Hawley was determined to succeed him in Congress. He took advantage of his position from 18 November of the same year and already retired on February 5, 1913 again from the Senate. Official incumbent was Republican James H. Brady, who won in the election against Governor Hawley.

Perky Kirtland then worked again as a lawyer in Boise, and later in Los Angeles, where he lived from 1923.
